During the off-season, we were sadly informed that Ben Cooper would be leaving his position as Head Coach of the team due to a relocation for work. All of us at the club would like to extend our gratitude to Coach Cooper for his efforts over the past 3 seasons, including a first trip to the post-season in some time in 2016/17, falling just short against a Brunel Burners team that have since firmly established themselves in Division 1. We wish him all the best in the future. Looking towards the future, we are excited to announce the appointment of Simon Preston as the new HC. Coach Preston was, most recently, HC of the Exeter Demons, but has an extensive history with the Bristol Barracuda, having previously served as a positional co-ordinator for all offensive positions outside of RB, along with offensive co-ordinator. We hope that Coach Preston will be able to build on the work of Coach Cooper and use his wealth of knowledge and experience to bring success to the club. Our new HC had this to say when we spoke to him: “It is great to return to my local university and be back where my coaching career began. I had a fantastic few years as the Exeter Demons’ Head Coach and I am now very excited by the opportunity to lead the club that I spent seven years at previously.” Keep an eye out for more updates as we edge closer to the start of the 2018/19 season! Jacob Wood
